AMSOIL Partners with TDG for 2026 Season

The Drift Group (TDG) is proud to announce a new partnership with AMSOIL, a leader in synthetic lubrication and performance-driven innovation.

Since their founding in the 1970s, AMSOIL has continued to innovate and push their synthetic lubrication technology to new levels. From the drift course to dirt tracks and everywhere in between, their products ensure consistent performance for pros and joes alike. They take racing just as seriously as we do and they show it with their support of teams and organizations from across the spectrum of motorsports.

“AMSOIL is a respected name in motorsports for a reason,” said Edgar Sarmiento of The Drift Group. “Their focus on performance, protection, and continuous innovation makes them an ideal partner for The Drift Group. As we continue creating opportunities for drivers and helping grow the sport, it’s important for us to align with brands that understand the demands of drifting and share our passion for pushing things forward.”

In a motorsport as hard on cars as drifting, proper lubrication is essential to getting as many laps out of our machines as possible. From high-revving motors to the transmissions they’re mounted to and the differentials they send all that power to, AMSOIL products are designed to keep you ripping. Their support of TDG means our drivers will benefit from their decades of innovation and their continued support of the motorsports we all love.

USDrift Scouting Report | Season 3

Season 3 of the USDrift Scouting Report will be starting shortly for the 2025 season. Applications will open starting on Friday, February 14th and close on Saturday, March 15th for drivers interested in attempting to earn a 2026 Formula DRIFT license.

The Scouting Report is designed to operate in lieu of a traditional multi-event competition series or double-elimination one or two round competition events. This allows drivers to attend a variety of events to showcase their talents over the course of an entire season that doesn’t involve strictly competition events. These events will include casual drift days, bash events (i.e. HyperFest, Bayside Bash, etc.), as well as competition events (i.e. USDrift Street League, Battle on the Bay, Gambler, etc.).

The ideal applicant should:

  • act professional on and off the track (this is why you are applying after all)

  • be proficient with a variety of drifting techniques

  • exhibit great car control

  • have the ability to understand what the lead driver/car is doing and adapt

  • have a vehicle that can start an event with all body panels present

  • not have a vehicle with mis-matched or unpainted body panels

  • be on social media and demonstrate basic marketing (unless independently wealthy)

The USDrift Scouting Report consists of a five-member panel that will observe drivers attending events to help determine whether drivers would make a good fit for Formula DRIFT. The panel for 2025 will include Formula DRIFT judge Brian Eggert, former Formula DRIFT PRO driver and PRO2 champion Dan Savage, Formula Drift judge Reese Marin, USDrift judge Mike Schneider, and USDrift judge Ben Portyrata. The combined experience of the panel includes various levels of involvement in drifting and as such, should grant them significant knowledge into the sport. The panel may select at their discretion, one eligible driver to award a 2026 Formula DRIFT license that is valid for that season only. The recommendation will be determined by the combined scouting reports from each member of the panel based on the evaluations of the drivers, their vehicles, media content, marketability, and overall program, as these things are all needed to run a successful program in Formula DRIFT. In other words, you need to be a total package.

Drivers interested in participating in the USDrift Scouting Report may apply online here. Applying is free, however applications will close on Saturday, March 15th for the 2025 season. For more information on Formula DRIFT PRO/AM licensing click here.

USDrift Scouting Report - A new way to earn a Formula DRIFT License

For 2023, USDrift will be returning to the Formula DRIFT PRO/AM by offering drivers the opportunity to earn a 2024 Formula DRIFT license through a newly created program called the USDrift Scouting Report. Formula DRIFT has redesigned the licensing format, changed the number of licenses that are available each year, and reduced the licenses to be valid for only one year (the immediate year after they are awarded). This newly designed program is in lieu of hosting a traditional multi-event competition series or double-elimination one or two round competition events. The USDrift Scouting Report will allow USDrift to offer a variety of events that interested drivers can participate in to be scouted at over the course of an entire season. These events will include casual track days, bash events (i.e. HyperFest), and competition events (i.e. Battle on the Bay).

The USDrift Scouting Report will consist of a five-member panel that will observe drivers attending events to help determine whether drivers would make a good fit for Formula DRIFT. The panel for 2023 will include Formula DRIFT judge Brian Eggert, former Formula DRIFT PRO driver and PRO2 champion Dan Savage, Formula Drift spotter, Drift School instructor, and USDrift judge Reese Marin, USDrift judge Mike Schneider, and USDrift judge Ben Portyrata. The combined experience of the panel includes various levels of involvement in drifting and as such, should grant them significant knowledge into the sport. The panel may select at their discretion, one eligible driver to award a 2024 Formula DRIFT license that is avalid for the 2024 season only. The recommendation will be determined by the combined scouting reports from each member of the panel based on the evaluations of the drivers, their vehicles, media content, marketability, and overall program, as these things are all needed to run a successful program in Formula DRIFT.

Drivers interested in being considered for the USDrift Scouting Report can apply online here. Applications are open until May 15th for the 2023 season. For more information on the new Formula DRIFT PRO/AM licensing series and changes, click here.
